Protecting the national infrastructure and the implementation of the National Infrastructure Protection Plan (NIPP) is one of the seven national priorities of the National Preparedness Goal.
Successful implementation of the NIPP requires that a wide array of individuals and institutions be familiar with the plan and its supporting logic and rationale. The NIPP identifies the seventeen (17) sectors of infrastructure, and mechanisms to coordinate the prevention, protection, response and recovery for each sector. Some of those mechanisms are Sector Coordinating Councils and Sector Specific Plans. The Joint Critical Infrastructure Conference (JCIC) is an initiative to educate, define national, state, and local roles and responsibilities of those plans and then apply those concepts to a panel discussion of a simulated incident.
The First JCIC is dedicated to terrorism as it relates to the Agriculture / Food Sector.
The conference will be held on December 12, 2006 at Tangeman University Center on the University of Cincinnati Campus.
